Bristlecone Pine Swirl

High in the Sierras (10,000 to 11,000 feet) outside Big Pine, California you can walk through groves of trees that have survived for over 4000 years. Standing as true monuments to tenacity and adaptation in the White Mountains of the Inyo National Forest these trees are starkly beautiful and many remain alive through a thin cover of bark. Those that have died will still stand for a thousand years or more.
